In these days and times of mistrust, scandals, disception, it's becoming increasingly hard to find people that you can truly trust. Nowadays, "Integrity" is a word and character trait that seems to lack an abundance of suiters. This is not to say that there aren't people of godly integrity still around. This is to say that the enemy has made a conscientious effort to damage the integrity of the Ministry and its Ministers, Government Officials, School Teachers and other people in various Leadership positions of authority and influence. In this second message, God reveals to us that he hates a "lying tongue". The tongue has caused more damage to the credibility of many individuals than most other things we classify as "weapons of mass destruction". For centuries, "loose and lying lips" have sunk many a human life ships!
James 3:5-11 (amplified) had this to say about the tongue.
Even so the tongue is a little member, and it can boast of great things. See how much wood or how great a forest a tiny spark can set ablaze! And the tongue is a fire. [The tongue is a] world of wickedness set among our members, contaminating and depraving the whole body and setting on fire the wheel of birth (the cycle of man's nature), being itself ignited by hell (Gehenna). For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea animal, can be tamed and has been tamed by human genius (nature). But the human tongue can be tamed by no man. It is a restless (undisciplined, irreconcilable) evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who were made in God's likeness! Out of the same mouth come forth blessing and cursing. These things, my brethren, ought not to be so.
We all were born in sin and shaped in iniquityand equipped with an "untamed" tongue. It takes humbling ourselves under the mighty hand of God and beingf fully controlled by the Holy Ghost in order for an "untamed" tongue to become a tongue under control. Every human tongue is "naturally" built with the propensity to cause much mayhem and mass murder among people. Every child of God must refrain from a lying tongue. Everybody on this side of God's green earth must quickly realize that a lying tongue-neither loves the truth nor has any delight in telling the truth.
It's important for the Child of God to know that every time a lies falls from their lips, it deeply grieves the Holy Spirit. Anyone who possesses a lying tongue is under the influence of a "demonic lying spirit". Because lying has become habitual and out of control, the person caught with a lying tongue will be either in denial leading to more lying , or will show no remorse because their intention was to lie. With every vicious lie, the lying tongue reveals the hatred the person has of everybody they victimized and talked about. Sometimes, the lying tongue can be very flattering and the message can appear to be truthful and seemingly designed to bring honor to its target, but, just like the father of all lies the Devil and in the same way he speaks lies and deception(while appearing as an angel of light), the flattering lying tongue is equally deceptive in it's goal to deceive and destroy the character of another person.
King Solomon made this observation concerning a lying tongue in Proverbs 17:4
"A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue."
People that possess lying tongues set out with an evil agenda to cause others harm and ill have on many occasions supportted themselves by other people's falsehoods and lies: According to Matthew Henry's Commentary: "A wicked person will listen to another liar with a great deal of pleasure, because in some twisted way, they derive justification for the act of lying themselves."
After all, the ultimate objective of the lying tongue is to cause some kind of public disturbances by the slander someone's character, the fabrication of false stories, and the defamation of all who are the object of their falsehoods. The lying tongue usually gives heed to another malicious backbiting tongues in order to have something to graft their lies upon, and with which gives the liar some "color" of truth and malicious support . It's a true saying: "Sinners will strengthen one another's hands; and those show that they are bad themselves who court the acquaintance and need the assistance of those that are bad. Some liars believe that by lying, it gives them credibility and validates the falsehood the person attempted to reveal as truth.
In the Old Testament, God had a severe "court of law" method for dealing with a person that possesses a lying tongue in Deut 19:16-21:
16 If a malicious witness takes the stand to accuse a man of a crime, 17 the two men involved in the dispute must stand in the presence of the Lord before the priests and the judges who are in office at the time. 18 The judges must make a thorough investigation, and if the witness proves to be a liar, giving false testimony against his brother, 19 then do to him as he intended to do to his brother. You must purge the evil from among you. 20 The rest of the people will hear of this and be afraid, and never again will such an evil thing be done among you. 21 Show no pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
Even in the Old Testament, God wanted us to realize that a lying tongue is so dangerous that it can cause so much mayhem, undo hardship and even the shededing of innocent blood of innocent people,. And for that reason, God's verdict back then was the person who was found guilty of the lying tongue was to suffer the same fate they set out to cause others. Thak God fopr grace and mercy but even this doesn't change God's resolve concerning a lying tongue. Make no mistake abour it: God hates a lying tomgue!
Solomon said in Proverbs 12:19-22
"The truthful lip shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment. Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but counselors of peace have joy. No grave trouble will overtake the righteous, but the wicked shall be filled with evil. Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord , but those who deal truthfully are His delight."
The Apostle Paul appealed to the Body of Christ and reminded us in Galatians 6 about our Christian conduct in general:
Gal 6:1-10 Amplified
BRETHREN, IF any person is overtaken in misconduct or sin of any sort, you who are spiritual [who are responsive to and controlled by the Spirit] should set him right and restore and reinstate him, without any sense of superiority and with all gentleness, keeping an attentive eye on yourself, lest you should be tempted also.
Bear (endure, carry) one another's burdens and troublesome moral faults, and in this way fulfill and observe perfectly the law of Christ (the Messiah) and complete what is lacking [in your obedience to it].
For if any person thinks himself to be somebody [too important to condescend to shoulder another's load] when he is nobody [of superiority except in his own estimation], he deceives and deludes and cheats himself.
But let every person carefully scrutinize and examine and test his own conduct and his own work. He can then have the personal satisfaction and joy of doing something commendable [in itself alone] without [resorting to] boastful comparison with his neighbor. For every person will have to bear (be equal to understanding and calmly receive) his own [little] load [of oppressive faults]. Let him who receives instruction in the Word [of God] share all good things with his teacher [contributing to his support].
Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.]
For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap. For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint. So then, as occasion and opportunity open up to us, let us do good [morally] to all people [not only being useful or profitable to them, but also doing what is for their spiritual good and advantage]. Be mindful to be a blessing, especially to those of the household of faith [those who belong to God's family with you, the believers].
Conclusion:
A lying tongue has no place in society, especially among those of us who have been saved and brought out of the "darkness" of this world and placed into the "marvelous" light of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus said you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. If you live by the truth of the Word of God in the righteousness of Christ then you are able to tell the truth, love others in the truth and stand by God's sacred truth. Speak the truth in love and stop living a lie by telling lies.
