Sermon: Mark 16:6-8                     “That Great Getting Up Morning"
And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.  And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.       (KJV)

I.    Introduction:    "4 Perspectives" of the Resurrection
When it came to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, - none of the 4 Gospel writers were actual eyewitnesses,- and there’s no record  -of any human eyes  -ever seeing it -when it happened,  yet, God -sent the Holy Ghost  -to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John  -and each one of them-  wrote 4 different perspectives -of that “great getting up morning”.

Matthew -wrote
about it- as a “prophetic proclamation”, from “the Royal throne in Heaven”.
He wrote it this was  because the Jews as a nation -refused to believe -that Jesus was the Messiah but believed the “big lie” perpetrated by the chief priests -who paid off the “tomb watchers”and told them to say -that his disciples -came at night -and stole the body from a “sealed tomb” and under the nose of “sleeping guards”.

Luke, wrote about it-from the "human perspective".
Luke wrote his perspective from this paradigym-because as soon as it happened, “two men” (angels)-in shinning garments -asked those -who came to the empty grave: Why are you seeking the living among the dead?

John wrote
about it -as “divinity speaking to humanity”,-
The Holy Ghost compelled John to write from this perspective because this was written- that you might believe -that Jesus is the Christ, -the Son of the Living God and if you believe it-, you would have eternal life -through his holy name!

Mark writes about -“that great getting up morning”- both from a “servant’s perspective” and as “a life changing  event” that literally changed the whole world -because Mark said: -“signs and wonders”,” power and protection” -would follow all those -that would believe -but damnation -awaited all those who would not.
II.     The Gravesite:     "Early Sunday Morning"
By the time -Mary Magdalene, -Mary-, mother of James and John -and the rest of the women -got to the tomb -to anoint the body of Jesus, -the stone had already been rolled away, -the tomb was empty,- an angel was there -making  “a grand resurrection announcement”, -but the body of Jesus -was nowhere in sight !

It was early in the morning. -That’s somewhere -between the darkest hour -in the night -and right before -that pitch darkness -gives way -to the flowing rays- of the dawning day.- It was early. That’s before -the lesser light- of a Harvest moon goes completely dim -and fades into nothing -as the greater light of the morning sunrise- starts to yawn, -and stretch out the arms -of its bright cosmic rays -and rise from the east, -pushing away -the stillness of the night -and start forth writing its signature on a new day…I tell you -it was that early on that Sunday morning, “that great getting up morning” that Jesus rose.
III.   " Strange Things"
Well…”strange things” --happened on that morning. There was an earthquake, -there was an angelic descent, - there were “security guards”- on post,  but sleep- and not on guard. -that great stone -that once blocked the entrance -to the tomb was been rolled away the “death shroud” that wrapped Jesus body was neatly folded on a flat slap but Jesus was nowhere in sight… I tell you -“strange things” happened on that day! But, when you really think about it,-  “strange things” happened -between Palm Sunday -and Crucifixion Friday.
A.    Palm Sunday
Well, on” Palm Sunday”,-there was a great Coronation-. On that day-, Jesus was touted -and celebrated- and hailed as- the King Of the Jews as he rode a borrowed donkey down the main street that led into Jerusalem to the jubilant cry of a joyous crowd. On that day, -the people showed him the homage -that was fit for a king, -Coats and palm branches -tossed in the street- lined the way, Jubilation was in the air. People were ecstatic and shouting for joy because their Shiloh had come. Jesus brought joy for their sorrows. He gave them hope for their tomorrows. Healing for their hurting bodies, Cures for their blood issues..He fed their hungers. He watered their thirsts. He healed their broken hearts and showed them the way of salvation. Can’t you hear them in their jubilation?  Hosanna, Hosanna, Blessed are thou, the son of David! Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord.
B.    Crucifixion Friday
Now when we fast forward -5 days later - you  get to see another “strange thing”…you witness -a great Crucifixion! Crucifixion -in and of itself -wasn’t strange -but this crucifixion -was very strange. -It was strange -because  many of the people -in that same crowd -that cried Hosanna -5 days ago -with great joy- now are part -of an angry -evil lynch mob -full of ignorant- misguided unbelievers -led by jealous,- arrogant Pharisees and Scribes. This crowd’s shouting: crying crucify Him, crucify Him!

What a strange -turn of events, because Jesus had given his people love and miracles, but now, they are giving him over bloody murder. Jesus had given them hope, but now they are giving him unholy havoc. He came to deliver them and give them salvation but now hanging on the cross they have given him over to suffering and shame…Look at them spitting  on him  and spitting out their venomous words at the very one who loved them with an everlasting love; and was now about to die for them that they all could have the hope of heaven and a right to the tree of life.

What a strange turn of events: Now you got the finite passing judgment on the infinite. You got the false, the great pretenders lying on the Way, the truth and the Life. You got humanity trying to decide the fate of Divinity with future history hanging in the balance. Look at this: momentary organized, dignified dust poised and ready to crucify the very one who spoke this formed dust into existence and made man from formed dust, breathed soul life into the nostrils of formed dust, and man became a living soul.

Now, add to this the scene at that great crucifixion… there were 3 men on 3 crosses, a dying thief, a repentant thief and Jesus our seeking Savior…there was 3 hours of darkness that ran from the 6th hour to the 9th hour…from high noon to 3 in the afternoon…, On Jesus’ cross Jesus’ charge was nailed above his head written in 3 different languages: Hebrew; the voice of revelation ...Greek; the voice of art and philosophy and Latin; the voice of power and Law …Not only that …Jesus experienced a 3-fold mockery from all 3 segments of society and yet every one of them said the same thing: He saved others but himself he could not save: If you are the Son of God save yourself..and come down so we will believe…You see, they didn’t understand what was really at stake on Jesus’ staying on the cross.
IV.   " Cannot versus Will not"
Now… just to show you how dense they all were ….none of them knew the difference in a divine cannot and a human could not! It wasn’t that Jesus humanly could not come down…He had legions of angels on standby in heaven ready to come to his rescue but He made up in his mind in the Garden of Gethsemane that he will not!.and..cannot not ! come down… God told them to stand down because… The nails didn’t hold him…It was the love of God that held him on that Cross….So,  he cannot come down because if he did,  our souls would still be lost… The truth was Jesus decided in the Garden of Gethsemane that the Father’s will would be done …This si why Jesus prayed to the Father said:  "Father forgive them for they know not what they do…. Jesus could not come down from the cross just to save himself…but he cannot come down so that everybody else could be saved…

Not only that, Jesus experienced pain from 3 perspectives of life:

First, he felt chronic physical pain: pain from being wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities …pain because the chastisement of our peace was upon him, but by the pain of his stripes, our pains can be healed ! My brothers and sisters, as bad as rheumatoid arthritis can be and as painful as it actually is, nothing was more painful than the sin that Adam and Eve heaped on all of mankind that awful day in the garden because they disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. As a result you don’t always have to sin to experience pain, but because of sin we all have to deal with pain.

Second, he felt emotional pain: pain from the anguish and agony of bearing all of man’s sin. He felt our angers and murders. He felt our lying and cheating. He felt our adulteries and fornications. He felt out blasphemies and unbelief, even our slanders and our slights. Isaiah said in Isaiah 53:3-4   “He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows,  yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.

Third, he felt the pain of separation: because at some point, while on the cross Jesus could not feel heaven’s connection. He couldn’t feel the presence of God the Father because bearing all of the sins of man and being made sin for us and not a sinner for us coupled with the fact that God hates sin, Jesus being made sin broke the com-link between holiness and humanity on the cross. That ought to tell every one of us that sin is a circuit breaker that shut off our connection to a Holy God. I don’t know how you feel- but I believe - the worst feeling you can have as a child of God is calling on the Lord and not only does he not answer but you can’t even feel his holy presence.

Another strange thing happened On the cross at Calvary, -when you break down everything Jesus said while hanging on the cross he really didn’t say that much verbally but there was awesome power in everything HE did said- There was 1 forgiveness prayer, I heard him say: (Father forgive them for they know not what they do)  1 cry of anguish, I heard HIM say:  (Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabachtani- My God, My God, Why has thou forsaken me?) 2 behold statements merging His mother with her new son , (Woman behold thy son,Son, behold thy mother) 1 cry of thirst, (I thirst!) 1 statement of finality, ( IT IS FINISHED)  1 declaration of a thief’s salvation because the death took a quick interlude to offer the invitation to a brand new life. I heard HIM say: (Today thou shall be with me in paradise) and finally 1 statement of submission of his spirit back to the Father  ( Father into THY HANDS, I COMMEND MY SPIRIT!), After all this, nothing else needed to be said.! I come to tell you while I’m on my way to my seat, but nobody died like Jesus died.

V.    When Jesus Died

When Jesus died: The S u n went on strike and refused to shine….The moon had a massive hemorrhage and dripped away in blood….there were things that experienced the power of UP: the veil in the temple was torn UP from top to bottom…that meant that God tore down the wall of petition that separated the Holy place from the Holy of Holies so you and I can go to the Rock of our salvation….When Jesus died…the graves of the dead saints opened UP…the dead saints themselves came to life and they all got Up from the graves and marched in a victory celebration in the streets of Jerusalem, became the first fruits of salvation and went UP to glory…

Satan made a big mistake  and thought that if Jesus was crucified that salvation for all of men would be lost. But he forgot that one promise that Jesus made. When the Roman soldiers nailed Jesus to the rugged cross ….they nailed nails in his hands and nailed him in his feet….they placed a crown of thorns upon is head then, they took that cross  and dropped it down in a study hole  putting it in an upright position..and when they did that…. it lifted Jesus UP from the earth! And I heard  Jesus said:… if I be lifted UP from the earth…I’ll draw all men unto me…They buried him in that borrowed tomb but early, early,  early that great getting UP Sunday morning…Jesus rose… yes he did…he got UP from the grave  and said ALL POWER  is in my hand…and because he got up on that day…You and I can experience 2 greeat getting UP mornings…I don’t know about you…but

I’Il experienced one of them already….at the age of nine in Sunday school at 1st Corinth Baptist Church…I heard the voice of Jesus say: it’s time to make a change. I remember… something got a hold of me… I got Up out of my seat my….all of a sudden… feet got light…my soul got happy and I felt alright…I walked down to the altar…  gave my hand to the pastor but I gave both my hands and heart to God..i came to Jesus just as I was weary wounded and sad…I found in him a resting place and he made me glad…

But you know what? I waiting for that last great getting UP morning…The bible said that one day Jesus Christ will come back out of heaven to this earth with a shout ….the voice of an archangel and the trump of God and the dead in Christ will rise UP first…then we who are still alive when he come will be changed in a moment the twinkling of an eye and will be caught UP in the clouds to meet Him in the air…on that great getting UP morning fare d well…fare d well…Do you know him…Have you tried him ain’t he alright’’’say yeah….yeah….awwwww yeahAin our lives one of these days there will be another great getting up morning! Some glad morning when this life is over I’ll fly away to a home on God’s celestial shore…….

God's Message to the Church of Ephesus: "The Backslidden Church"
Revelation 2:1-7
"To the angel of the church in Ephesus write:These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands: I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.  You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.  (NIV)

In Revelation chapter 1, John, the Apostle was exiled on the Isle of Patmos because, as he puts it: for the "Word of God" and the "Testimony of Jesus Christ".  (Revelation 1:8-9) While in exiled, John said: "On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea."" I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was someone "like a son of man,"dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. "Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later."  The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
John begins to write these 7 letters to each of the seven  "angels" (minister, pastor. or presbyter) of these seven  churches. Each letter is unique in the fact that Jesus addresses each church leaders by introducing Himself to them by one of many of his attributes. to Ephesus, He introduces Himself as: "He that holds the seven stars in his right hand".  What did this title  mean to the Church Ephesus and to it's Pastor?
According to the Barnes Commentary Notes, it meant the following:
A.    The  Church of Ephesus and their pastor was to focus their attention to this attribute of the Saviour because "this attribute" deserved their special regard. It was this attribute that constituted "the reason" for attending to what Jesus said. In this case:
 a.    Jesus reminded them that "He" held the seven stars-emblematic of the ministers of the churches-in his hand.
b.    That he walked in the midst of the lampbearers-representing the churches themselves; intimating that they were dependent on him.
c.    That he had power to continue or remove the ministry.
d.
That it was by his presence only that those "lamp-bearers" (Pastors) would continue to give light.
God has absolute control over the ministry, and the fact that he walked amidst the churches, and that his presence is necessary to their perpetuity and their welfare, seem to be the principal ideas implied in this representation. These truths he would impress on their minds, in order that they might feel how easy it would be for him to punish any disobedience, and in order that they might do what was necessary to secure his continual presence among them. These views seem to be sanctioned by the character of the punishment threatened (Rev. 2:5), "that he would remove the candlestick representing their church out of its place."
I.    God's Commendation to Ephesus
A.     Evangelistic work ethic:

Ephesus showed great patience and perseverance while diligently carring out the great comission of Matthew 28. they showed no signs of weariness had a fierce intolerance for false teachers, ministers and brethren in the church fellowship.. This church was a good example of one that "endured hardness" for Christ.  It was said that they had a zeal, that was according to the knowledge of God. even though they were heavy persecution.
B.    Ephesus had an intolerance for evil.
The Ephesians who converted to Chrisendom ridded themselves of every idol and would not allow the pagan practices of Ephesus to infiltrate their fellowship. They had no sympathy with their doctrines or their practices, they were utterly opposed to them. They had lent them no countenance, but had in every way shown that they had no fellowship with them. The evil persons here referred to were, doubtless, those mentioned in this verse as claiming that "they were apostles," and those mentioned in Rev 2:6 as the Nicolaitanes. the "C.    The Church of Ephesus had a hatred for the Nicolaitanes.
    Nicolaitanes"
were a "facton" within the Church in Ephesus who were instrumental of developing  a religious system of " separation of the Clergy from the Laity" that  created a "priestly order" as a moden replica of the  Old Testament order of the Priests, Levites and "common people".  Remember, when Jesus died on the cross, the Bible said the "veil curtain" in the Temple of Jerusalem separating the "Holy Place" from the "Most Holy Place" was torn from top to bottom, eliminating the need for a Intercessory Priesthood, because Jesus Christ became our Great High Priest.
In essence, the Pharisees and Priest were no longer needed because a person could now petition God for themselves without going to and presenting a "sacrificial offering" to the Priest. Their purpose was to establish a so-called Holy Order of Men to in rulership over the laity. From this they left God's "New Testament" plan for calling the called  "pastors", but "Clergy, Bishops, Archbishops, Cardinals, and Popes". This church was not deceived but knew this was a false practice that didn't please God. This is why every new teacher and minister came under close scrutiny and if they were found to be false teachers of ministers, they were quickly thrown out of the Ephesian felowship.

II.    God's rebuke of the Church:    "Backslidden"
The Apostle Paul founded this church. The name "Ephesus" meant "to let go" and "to relax". Paul wrote a warning to this church in Acts 20:25-31:
Acts 20:25-31
"Now I know that none of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom will ever see me again.  Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of all men.  For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.  Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.a Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.  I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.  Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.  So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears".

"You have left your first love"  What did this mean?
The sin that Christ charged this church with was their decay and decline in holy love and zeal: The people in the Ephesian church lost their zeal and fire for Christ. Theire enthusiasm had waned and the ferver they displayed when they first came to Christ was nearly non existent. How doeas this church's situation apply to us?
A.    Individually
As individuals Christians often lose much of their first love over the course of time. for this reason, many modern churches sponsor revival meetings to revivie the enthusiasm and ferver the member once had but has  waned because of the barrage of  the trials and spiritual attacks . For the new convert in Christ, there is usually a great euphoria that well up in their emotions when they first receive him, embracing the meaning of His Crucifixion, Burial and Resurrection. and hears the great news that they will not die and go to hell now and

(1.) The first affections of men towards Christ, and holiness, and heaven, are usually lively and warm. God remembered the love of Israel's espousals, when she would follow him withersoever he went.
(2.) These lively affections will abate and cool if great care be not taken, and diligence used, to preserve them in constant exercise.
(3.) Christ is grieved and displeased with his people when he sees them grow remiss and cold towards him, and he will one way or other make them sensible that he does not take it well from them.

III. God's Warning to this Church:
A.    Remember from where you have fallen.
The Church was challenged to return to their "former" days when they had a zeal for God that breathed enthusiasm and ferver.
B.    Repent
The people in the Church at Ephesus" were charged to to change all of their backslidden mindset and purposes," and, along with this change their behavior and conduct and demeanor toward god and the things of God.." .
C.     Do the First works
The works which were done when the church was first established. That is, manifest the zeal and love which were they had when they stood boldly in opposing error, eous and false teachings and teachers. and in doing good. They were to  return to doing what they did in the first and best days of their piety, the days of their "espousals" (Jer 2:2) to God. They were to go back to studying the Scriptures and living completely by them under the unction of the Holy Ghost.

[0r else I will come unto thee quickly and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent]

A Short Editorial: "Having Inner Peace"

Editorial:             "Having Inner Peace Within"
Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
(NKJV)

What is peace without the peace of God that surpasses all of our "intellectual" understanding? We are all beings that have "partial" knowlege and live our lives based on 'partialities'. Letting Jesus in one's heart goes far beyond religion or religious practices, No religion cannot contain of confine HIM. It is in people's religions and "religious practices" that a lot of "misguided foolishiness" and "idiotic social confusion" comes forth, that has truly dividied the masses.

Believe it or not, without Jesus, there is "no real peace", even from within. The reason is, there is an area located within the human psyche ( soul) that God can only occupy!" Sin" left and leaves that area empty and void." Nothing" or "no-thing" has the compacity to replace the void with "perfect peace" in your psyche (soul) but Christ. He's not just the "Prince of Peace", HE is Peace itself!", which means anything else that touts itself as peace, outside of HIM is really not peace and believe me, it will not last! Been there, done that!.

Here's something we must remember:
Just because we may find "a quiet place" or experience "serene moments" away from the hustle and bustle of life's daily grind and challenges, doesn't always equate to or guarantee the possession or presence of peace.

Contrary to public opinion, the absence of conflict is not the guarantor of the presence of peace. You may think that you have arrived at a place of peace, only to have its foundation ripped from underneath your inner being and fleeing from you when you least expect it. The difference in that peace that the world claims to give and that "perfect peace" that only Christ can give is, a person who is truly submitted to Christ, not religion can attest to the fact that in Christ, that "inner peace" they obtained through prayer, meditation, and practical living is not fleeting and just like Jesus, it will never max out, die out, or abandon you in critical times.

Finally, it is true every person must be persuaded in their own minds and to each their own, but Pprsonally I prefer God's  (through Jesus Christ) way to peace, and I truly believe that outside the realm of Christ, people may and often do find some facimile of peace, but, it's usually manifest after dismissing one's self away from "surrounding drama". In Him, you can have both serenity and peace despite the surrounding drama in or around your life.

                                 Biblical Tips to Inner Peace
Philippians 4:8-9
Meditate on These Things
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.  (NKJV)

The Resurrection: "That Great Getting Up Morning"!

Mark 16:1-9    The Resurrection: "That Great Getting Up Morning"!
When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?" But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.
As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.  "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.'" Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid
.
I.    Introduction:       The Gospel Account from All 4 Perspectives
In the Bible, all four Gospel writers gave their own account on what happened that early Sunday morning. None of them were actual witness, and there were no human eyes ever on recorded history that could testify to seeing it.  For this reason, God sent the Holy Ghost to commission these four gospel writers  (Matthew, Mark,  Luke, and John) to write 4 different perspectives of this great getting up morning‘s account as he moved on each of them by the Holy Ghost. Matthew wrote about the resurrection from its prophetic and royal perspective , and the fact that his chosen people the Jews as a nation (not all individuals) believed the lie perpetrated by the religious leaders and refused to accept their true King Jesus even after his resurrection . Mark writes about the resurrection from a servant’s perspective and shows us how that great getting up morning affected mood of the disciples and should have a cataclysmic effect on you and me. This is why he wrote more on what was done to Jesus that what was done by him while hanging up on the cross. Luke, from a humanitarian perspective wrote about the resurrection from the perspective of how Jesus being raised from the dead bought new vistas of hope to the Christian movement in as it was thought to begin to die at the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus. John wrote about the resurrection from the perspective that the scriptures might be (was) fulfilled that the Son of God must be crucified, buried and rise from the grave, that the resurrection did take place and the faith of those appointed disciples now apostle would increase and they in turn would share the good news that Jesus Christ is both the Son of God and the Promised Messiah.
II.    Mary Magdalene, Mary (Mother of James and John) and Others
By the time Mary Magdalene, Mary, mother of James and John and the rest of the women got to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus, the stone had already been rolled away, the tomb was empty, an angel was there to make a grand resurrection announcement, and the body of Jesus was nowhere in sight
It was early in the morning. That’s somewhere between the darkest hour in the night and right before that pitch darkness gives way to the flowing rays of the dawning day. It was early. Before the lesser light of a Harvest moon could go completely dim and fade into nothing as the greater light of the morning sun starts to yawn, and stretch out the arms of its cosmic bright rays and rise from the east, pushing away the darkness night brings and start forth writing its signature on the dawn of a new day…it was early that Sunday morning,  one week after Palm Sunday, that  Jesus rose. It was a great getting up morning because on this morning, Jesus fulfilled the prophecy concerning his death, burial and rsessurection.
III.    Strange Phenomenas surrounding the Crucifixion and Resurrection
A.     Surrounding the Resurrection:
Mark says there was an earthquake, an angelic descent, security guards on post but not on guard. The great stone that blocked the entrance to the tomb has now been rolled away and culminating into that great getting up that morning when Jesus rose from the dead.
B.    Surrounding the Crucifixion:
 1.    "A Great  Coronation"
    On Palm Sunday,
there was a great Coronation. On that day, this same Jesus was touted and celebrated and hailed as the King Of the Jews as he rode a borrowed donkey down the main street that led into Jerusalem to the jubilant cry of a joyous crowd. As the people showed him the homage fit for a king, coats and palm branches lined the way, Jubilation was in the air. The people were ecstatic and shouting for joy because their "Shiloh had come"!. Jesus brought joy for their sorrows. He gave them hope for their tomorrows. He fed their hungers. He watered their thirsts. He healed their broken hearts and showed them the way of salvation. Can’t you hear them in their jubilation?  Hosanna, Hosanna, Blessed are thou, the son of David! Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord!
2.    "A Great Crucifixion"
Now fast forward 5 days later and now you witness a great Crucifixion! Many in that same crowd that once cried Hosanna 5 days ago with great joy now have become part of an angry and evil lynch mob full of ignorant, misguided unbelievers led by jealous, arrogant Pharisees and Scribes. This crowd’s shouting: crying crucify Him, crucify Him!
What a strange turn of events, because Jesus had given his people miracles, but now, they are giving him over murder. Jesus had given them hope, but now they are giving him unholy havoc. Spitting  on and spitting out their venomous words at the very one who loved them with an everlasting love; and was about to die for them that we all could have the hope of heaven and a right to the tree of life. I said that it was a strange turn of events: Now you got "the finite" passing judgment on" the Infinite". You got "the false", lying on and judging "the  WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE". You got "humanity" trying to decide the fate of "DIVINITY" with future HISTORY (HIS STORY)  hanging in the balance. Look at this: the nerve of "momentary organized, dignified FORMED dust" poised and ready to crucify" the VERY ONE" who spoke this" formed dust" into existence; WHO  made man from "formed dust", breathed "soul life" into "the nostrils of formed dust", and" formed dust" became "a man" and  "man" became "a living soul"!
IV.    Scenes of 3"s" at the Crucifixion
Now, add to this the scene at that great crucifixion… the great scenes of the number 3 present at thie crucifixion.
A.    "3 men on 3 crosses", a dying thief, a repentant thief and Jesus our seeking Savior…
B.     3 hours of darkness that ran from the 6th hour to the 9th hour from high (12 noon to 3 in the afternoon),
C.    The charge against Jesus written in 3 different languages above his head : Hebrew; the voice of revelation ...Greek; the voice of art and philosophy and Latin; the voice of power and Law …Not only that …Jesus experienced
D.    a "3-fold mockery" from all 3 "segments of society" with 1 unified slander : an "unrepentant thief, The Scribes and Pharisees and  the public at large:
"He saved others but himself he could not save: If you are the Son of God save yourself..and come down so we will believe"…
E.    Jesus experienced pain from  all "3 perspectives" of life:
1.    "Chronic physical pain":
Jesus felt pain  of Isaiah 53:5:from being "wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities …pain because the chastisement of our peace was upon him, but, by the pain of his stripes, our pains can be healed"!
My brothers and sisters, as bad as rheumatoid arthritis can be and as painful as it actually is, nothing was more painful than the sin that Adam and Eve heaped on all of mankind that awful day in the garden because they disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. As a result you don’t always have to sin to experience pain, but because of sin, we all have to deal with pain.
2.    "Emotional pain":
Jesus felt the pain from the anguish and agony of bearing all of man’s sin. He felt our angers and murders. He felt our lying and cheating. He felt our adulteries and fornications. He felt out blasphemies and unbelief, even our slanders and our slights.Isaiah said in Isaiah 53:3-4   “He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows,  yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted".
3.     Pain of "Spiritual separation":

At some point, while on the cross Jesus could not feel heaven’s connection. He couldn’t feel the presence of God the Father because bearing all of the sins of man and being made sin for us and not a sinner for us coupled with the fact that God hates sin, Jesus being made sin broke the com-link between holiness and humanity on the cross. That ought to tell every one of us that sin is a "circuit breaker" that "shuts off "our connection to a "Holy God". I personally believe that "the worst feeling" you can have as a child of God is to call on the Lord and He refuses to answer, but even worse, you can’t even feel his holy presence anymore!  One songwriter raised the powerful question: How can I live in SIN and fell my Savior's love?
V.    The Cross:    What was at stake?
You see, they didn’t understand what was really at stake on Jesus’ cross  Now… just to show you how "dense" they all were …let me show you something! None of them knew the difference between a "divine cannot" and a human "could not"! It wasn’t that Jesus humanly "could not" come down from the cross…Jesus could have come down anytime he wanted to , but because he had a charge to keep and "God the Father" to glorify, He simply "would not" come down. As a matter of fact, in heaven, Jesus  had legions of angels waiting on standby  and "battle ready" ready to come to his rescue. All he had to do was speak the word and there wouldn't be any more crucifixions of anybody! But when Jesus said in the "Garden of Gethsemane": "Not as I will but thy will be done",  God told them all STAND DOWN! because JESUS made up in his mind that he WOULD NOT !.and..CANNOT! come down from the cross…The Mississippi Mass Chior sung a song that put the cross in perspective: It wasn't the nails that held HIM to the cross. HE could have come down , but my soul would still be lost. the ransom was so high only HE could bear the cost. It wasn't the nails that held HIM to the cross ...That's whyJesus in prayed to the Father:  Father, forgive them for they know not what they do!….I'm so glad that HE would not come down from the cross just to save himself…HE DECIDED TO DIE SO THAT YOU AND I JUST COULD LIVE.!
Not only that, Another strange thing happened On the Cross at Calvary, Jesus didn't have much to say. except for 1 forgiveness prayer, 1 cry of anguish, 2 behold statements merging His mother with her new son , 1 cry of thirst, 1 statement of finality,  1 declaration of a thief’s salvation and 1 statement of submission of his spirit, Jesus said nothing else! Nobody died like Jesus died.
VI.    What happened when Jesus Died?
A.     The S u n went on strike and refused to shine.
B.    The moon had a massive hemorrhage and dripped away in blood
.
C.    Many things experienced the power of UP:
         a.    the veil in the temple was "torn UP" from top to bottom…that meant that  God   tore down the wall of petition that separated the Holy place from the Holy of Holies so you and I can go to the Rock of our salvation.
          b.    the graves of the dead saints "opened UP"…
           c.    the dead saints themselves came to life and they all "got Up" from the open graves and had a victory celebration marching n the streets of Jerusalem, They became the "first fruits of Salvation" and left from Paradise in Hades "UP" to Glory…
VII. The wisdom of Our" Almighty Jehovah God" "The Plan of Salvation"
Satan made a mistake  and thought that if Jesus was crucified that salvation for all of men would be lost. But he forgot that "one promise" that Jesus made. When the Roman soldiers nailed Jesus to the rugged cross ….they nailed nails in his hands and nailed him in his feet….they placed a crown of thorns upon is head. After they nailed jusus to the cross then, they took that cross  and dropped it down in a study hole  putting it in an upright position..and when they did that…. it lifted Jesus UP from the earth! And I heard  Jesus said:… if I be lifted UP from the earth…I’ll draw all men unto me!!

They buried him in that borrowed tomb but early, early,  early that great getting UP Sunday morning…Jesus rose… yes he did…HE got UP from the grave  and said ALL POWER  is in my hand…
VIII.    "The Importance of the Resurrection" What that "Great Getting Up Morning means to Us?
You and I can experience 2 greeat getting UP mornings…
A.    At Conversion:
Romans  10:8-13

But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,"that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Explanation:   10. " For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved". As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile — the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
Verse of reassurance:   13. for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (NIV)
B.    At Jesus Christ's "Second Coming"
The bible said that one day Jesus Christ will come back out of heaven to this earth with a shout …
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
"
Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him". "According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words".

Where will you be on that Great Getting Up Morning?
