Now here's the reason:
.Anytime you merge" secular events" and activities with the" sacred things" that are exclusive to God, like "compromising" the usage and purpose of the sanctuary, the choir stand, the "holy place" (which the main sanctuary represents) and the "most holy place" (which the pulpit represent)....,you risk compromising the image that Christ intended for HIS church to have and it will quickly become a den of thieves.
There are simply some things you SHOULD NEVER DO in the church building or on the church's property. The modern church as a whole has become filled (or should I say contaminated) with too many "crossover activities" that merge the traditions of men with "SACRED THINGS" . The church is fast becoming a place where the majority come to network and not worship. It's becoming a place to meet, greet, and eat. Believe it or not, there are those who attend church simply to use the Chapter and verse(s) of the preacher's text to go to a lottery place and "play" these numbers on a lottery ticket. Satan, using Secular Humanism is attempting to poison the true message and mission of the Lord's church , and that message is repent for the kingdom of God is at hand and the mission is EVANGELISM. I STAND ON WHAT I SAID EARLIER... we will either be members of God's church and live according to God's principles, precepts, and truths BASED in the LIVING WORD OF GOD : JESUS CHRIST or we will become hosts and hostess to a juke joint that has the "form of godliness", but deny the power thereof. When we celebrate the things of God, our celebration should reflect those things, not the things of the world.
Historically, at the formation of the church, (institution) the biggest opposition to it was the inclusion of Gentiles within the fellowship and the clear teaching that Jesus Christ was the only means to salvation by a religious group called the Judaizers.. By the 4th century, Constantine in an attempt to consolidate the Roman Empire used his political influence as Emperor to persuade the church to allow pagan practices and doctrines to merge with pure Christian doctrines, thus creating what became a state religion and corrupted the church in practice by corrupting the church doctrinally and thus spiritually.
Contrary to what many would like to believe, it is not hatred on others to uphold things and practices that God clearly has deemed "sacred" in Scripture and not allow "crossover deals" to replace or compromise what God put in place HIMSELF! Sacred things: STANDARDS and PRACTICES God put in place in order to draw and compel people to accept Jesus Christ. Jesus said "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, I'll draw all men unto me." In fact, it's an indictment on us if we say we love the Lord , yet allow any and every kind of activities to take place in HIS church on our watch that does nothing to lift HIM up or glorify HIm in any way!. Any thing you do in behalf of Christ regardless of where it's held should reflect the love and praise of God, not the traditions of men..
Sometime God's love is reflected in what 's not allowed to take place and what we must stand against even if it's perceived by others a judging. No, we are not anyone's judge, but we are required ad baptized believers in Christ to hold up the blood stained banner and the Biblical standard in our worship, even down to what we actually do in the sanctuary. To do anything less than that is not the love of God.
1 John 2: 15-17 says: "Love not the world, neither the things of the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. for all the things of the world; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world passes away and the lust thereof, but whoever does the will of God shall never die."
Jesus said in Revelation 3:21: "As many as I love, I rebuke and chastise. Be zealous and repent." In 2 Timothy 4:1-4 Paul admonished Timothy to preach the WORD, to be instant in season and out of season; to reprove, rebuke with all long suffering, because the time will come when people will not hold on to sound doctrine, but look for teachers that will teach and uphold what they want in direct opposition of what God requires.
Nowadays, it's getting increasingly harder to distinguish between where the church as an "institution" stands Revelation 3 (the Church of Laodicea) and where the world as a secular entity stands in opposition. The preaching and teaching of the WORD of God worked without gimmicks for many years and brought many souls to Christ without church parties or crossover events... Pure and sound teaching of the WORD, persistent praying, and sincere worship of the Lord in spirit and truth was all it took then and is all it takes now. There's noting wrong with creativity as long as it doesn't corrupt the core message or mission of the Church as an institution of the church (individual).
God has never asked any of us to "put our spin" on what He has already established. We are to simply follow the Script (bible) and be led by the Holy Spirit in doing so. Whatever changes or methods that need changing , the Holy Spirit as our guide will guide us in that area too.
People party where the buildings in the neighborhood are constructed and set up for such activities and worship the Lord at church because this building is constructed and designated as modern model of the tabernacle for that purpose.: God himself did it this way to reflect the clear separation of HIS church and worship of God from the world and it's secular agenda..
Finally, the words from Joshua 24:14-15 ring out: Joshua 24:14-15
"Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." NIV
